Welcome from the Headteacher - Miss Pollard:
Welcome to Canon Johnson C of E Primary School.
As the Headteacher of Canon Johnson, I hope you will find the information on our website useful in helping you and your child find out lots more about us and our school family. If your child is due to join us, we hope that this information will help you to settle them in and prepare them for their school journey at Canon Johnson.
I believe that when at school every second counts, our children only get one chance, therefore, learning should be of the highest quality for every child, in every lesson, with every teacher. Our overall aim is encapsulated in our school vision statement of:
Our school family aims to immerse every child in a diverse, thought provoking, memorable curriculum, which places all children at the heart of discovering their true potential, allowing them to become aspirational, valued contributors within an ever-changing society and global community.
Achievement of our vision is underpinned by our Christian values of love, hope & aspiration, respect, trust and friendship, along with the British values of liberty, freedom, community, tolerance, respect and the rule of law.
Rooted in God’s love, our vision is lived out in every aspect of school life, from our curriculum, to our dealings with children, parents, staff and the wider community, as well as in our interactions across the Forward as One Multi-Academy Trust of which we are a proud part.
Our chosen Scripture in which our vision and values are rooted comes from John 13:34, “Love one another as I have loved you”.
At Canon Johnson, we believe the most important people in any child's life and learning are their parents and carers; we share in your passion for your child's education, therefore, our home-school partnership is crucial to your child's development. We work hard to make sure this partnership is a close one so that all our children are able to flourish. It is so important that we work together to support them in being the best they can possibly be.
We aim to regularly and clearly communicate your child's successes and challenges to keep you well informed and fully involved in your child's progress. There are also many opportunities to get involved in school life at Canon Johnson. We have a PTA (Parent and Teacher Association) where you as a member can help with fund raisers and social events. We hope to see you at workshops, Parent Conferencing events, sporting events and Celebration Worships, to name just a few. We also welcome parent volunteers.
Finally, I would like to say how excited I am that you are considering or have chosen Canon Johnson C of E Primary School for your child. Please feel free to come and speak to me about any questions or queries you may have.
I am looking forward to a happy and successful partnership with you.
Miss Pollard
